Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Program Team Manager, Mental Health and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Ambulatory Care Nurse working under the general direction of the physician's care plan and collaborating with him/her in adapting the plan of care, is responsible for: the assessment of individuals and/or families, as well as the planning, implementation, and evaluation of short and long-term therapy by attending to the relevant physiological, psychological and sociological needs of the patient; providing individual, group and family therapy; providing consultation to multidisciplinary health care.
Experience
- Three (3) years clinical experience in acute care psychiatric nursing required (within the last five (5) years).
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Baccalaureate of Nursing or BSc of Psychiatric Nursing, or RPN with BA (major) in Psychology preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Current CRNM/CRPNM registration required.
- Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
- Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)/Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act.
- Knowledge of relevant community agencies/programs required.
- Group therapy skills and crisis intervention skills required.
