Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Materiel Management and under the supervision of the Buyer/Supervisor, Materiel Management, the incumbent is responsible for the Supply Chain activities at the site as it relates to Materiel Management. The Supply Chain activities include receiving, shipping, supplies, warehousing distribution, inventory management and maintenance of the computerized central inventory store room. The closed loop system of Supply Chain Management is the process used to replenish Supply Storage Locations (SLOCs) of medical and non-medical supplies at the Centre.

Experience

  • Experience in supplies handling, distribution, receiving and inventory management preferred.
  • Previous training or experience in inventory control would be considered an asset.
  • Previous materiel management experience in healthcare setting and previous experience with medical/surgical supplies preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Successful completion of Grade 12, Manitoba Standards.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) Certificate or commitment to acquire same within 6 months of commencing in the position.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of WHMIS.
  • Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations.
  • Knowledge of hospital supplies and equipment.
  • Knowledge of computerized inventory systems (SAP, WHITE Systems).
  • Working knowledge of purchasing, warehousing, finance and distribution as it pertains to the Materiel Handler’s function.
  • Knowledge of relevant Workplace Safety and Health responsibilities.
  • Ability to operate a cart caddy.
  • Ability to push and pull cart loads of supplies which may weigh up to 2100 pounds.
  • Ability to express ideas and thoughts in English both verbally and in written format.
  • Ability to read in English.
  • Ability to listen and comprehend effectively.
  • Demonstrated qualities of honesty and integrity.
  • Accurate filing and record keeping skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities and to organize work schedules.
  • Ability to work in a computerized environment. Computer skills should include accessing the Intranet sending/receiving emails and a working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and computer programs, SAP, White system, and Hippo.
  • Ability to operate equipment, such as a loading ramp, hand pallet jack and delivery carts in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively.
  • Demonstrates abilities in Math and Numerical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work safely without injury to self, clients or other staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients/residents, family members and co-workers.
  • Ability to select appropriate communication methods pertinent to the situation.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to properly lift (up to 50 lbs.) and handle heavy goods.
  • Ability to climb step stools and ladders.

 

 

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
