Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

The Care Coordination program provides staffing, technical/equipment, education, leadership, bed utilization and specialized nursing support to clinical programs at the Health Sciences Centre. Under the direction of the Director of Health Services, Care Coordination, the Manager of Central Staffing is responsible for ddirecting the activities and functions of the Central Staffing Office including supervising and providing direction to department staff, management of the day to day 24-hour operations including delivery of Staff Scheduling, timekeeping, payroll and job posting services. The manager is responsible for the development and sustainment of standard work practices according to the individual collective agreements or hospital policies, ensuring compliance with all staffing needs of the individual clinical and non-clinical areas that this team services throughout the hospital.

As a manager with Care Coordination, you are able to demonstrate critical thinking skills, creativity, and have the knowledge to manage resources to achieve patient safety and quality, position employee relations, and compliance with hospital policy guidelines. The manager is skilled in coaching, mentoring, and leading their team in the delivery of quality services. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Experience

  • Minimum two years’ experience working with a Staff Scheduling System required.
  • General experience with systems implementation, training, troubleshooting and evaluation.
  • Previous experience in staffing processes preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and management experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience with writing, implementing standard work procedures.
  • Experience with interpretation and application of collective agreements required.
  • Project Management experience an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience with application of Change Management frameworks an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Relevant post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 
  • (e.g., Business Administration, Computer Science, Human Resource Management, etc.).

 

Special Training:

  • Advanced level of knowledge and proficiency with computer systems relating to the use of common software applications including spreadsheet, database and email applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement methodologies (LEAN, Six Sigma) an asset.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • Demonstrated analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills required.
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (verbal and written) skills, problem-solving abilities, and the initiative to follow through on matters independently.
