Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Director of Maintenance Services, the incumbent is responsible for the coordination, direction and control of all maintenance activities, execution of repairs and preventive maintenance required throughout the Centre. Other activities include: preparing reports and estimates, performing routine inspections, supervising and training shop staff in the operation, repair and preventive maintenance of building systems, and scheduling of staff.

Experience

  • Minimum of seven years’ experience as a plumber, with at least five years’ experience in a recognized management capacity.
  • Mechanical (plumbing) building systems including, but not limited to, domestic hot and cold water, sewer and storm water handling, hot and cold-water space heating, steam (for heating and process), medical and lab gasses, reverse osmosis and process water, fire suppression and other specialty building liquid safety systems, required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba Standards, required.
  • Mechanical Technology diploma and eligible for registration with the Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM) or a Manitoba Journeyman Industrial Mechanic, Plumber or Steamfitter certificate required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Eligibility for registration with CTTAM required or a Manitoba Journeyman Plumbing of Steamfitter certificate required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have or be able to acquire within a reasonable period of time a thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and regulations applicable to the area of supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Visual and aural acuity and manual dexterity required.
