Position Overview
To support the Victoria Hospital’s vision, mission and values to be an excellent community hospital/facility. To provide care/services to all patients, residents, staff and community members with compassion and respect. Reporting to the Facility Management Lead and/or designate, the incumbent performs installation, testing, analysis, maintenance and repair tasks of any degree of complexity on hospital buildings and grounds, building services, building service equipment and a wide variety of departmental equipment. Responds to emergency calls throughout the facility, making repairs as required in conjunction with appropriate trades where applicable.
Experience
- 3 years’ experience in a variety of facets of maintenance of buildings, building services, building service equipment and departmental equipment.
- Previous experience in a health care facility would be an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards required.

Qualifications and Skills
- A sound knowledge base of applicable safety and equipment operating regulations.
- Sound working knowledge of various maintenance, construction, and operating techniques.
- Must be capable of handling power tools and hand tools.
- Demonstrable ability to perform basic plumbing and mechanical repairs/maintenance.
- Demonstrable ability to perform basic repairs to doors (including hardware) windows, walls and floors in a commercial setting.
- Ability to follow directions and work independently.
- Ability to effectively handle emergency situations.
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic ability to use Windows based software programs.
- Discreet and confidential in all Hospital, patient/resident related matters.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
