Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager Health Services - Nutrition & Food Services - Operations RDF/Lead Hand, the incumbent performs repair, maintenance and installation on varied food service equipment. Health and Safety, Quality Control and preventative maintenance related to the equipment and systems at the RDF is also an integral part of the maintenance program.

Experience

  • Must have two years’ experience in assisting with trades-related maintenance work in institutional buildings or a manufacturing production environment.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete Grade 12 education, Manitoba standards, preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current and valid Manitoba driver’s license preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to withstand short periods of strenuous activity.
  • Heavy lifting may be involved.
  • Must be able to work in temperature extremes.
  • Must be able to safely use hand and power tools and possess the knowledge to safely do so.
  • Entrance into confined spaces and working on ladders or lift platforms is common.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g. half face respirators, fall protection harnesses, work gloves, hearing protection and steel toe safety shoes.).
  • Must be able to work on weekends, rotating shifts and be able to change shifts as required to complete maintenance tasks when necessary, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

 

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
