Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager, Facility Management, independently performs a variety of minor tasks and assists tradespersons or other maintenance personnel in their job function.

Experience

  • Previous training and/or experience in performing general labour tasks and the safe operation of moving equipment and specialty vehicles.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Grade 12 Education.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Must have a current driver’s license.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and support of:
    • The vision, values, goals, and objectives of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and the Grace Hospital.
    • The Grace Hospital’s Mission Statement, Residents Bill of Rights and Code of Conduct.
    • Personal Health Information Act, Protection of Persons in Care Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with skilled trades people.
  • Ability to work in an environment respecting the privacy and rights of patients/residents that may be encountered in carrying out duties.
  • Alertness and thoroughness.
  • Effective interpersonal working relationships.
  • Initiative, reliability, persistence and adaptability.

Physical Requirements

  • All fire and safety rules and regulations are observed in the performance of duties.
  • May be required to work extended hours.
  • May involve exposure to disease, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, etc.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated patients/residents/staff/visitors.
  • May be required to work under stressful or emergent situations.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and high areas (i.e. crawl spaces, ladders, tall buildings).

 

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
