Job description: 

Golden Door Geriatric Centre is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. In this role, the LPN will provide professional nursing services to residents within a client-centered care model. Working under the general supervision of a Care Coordinator, the LPN collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality, compassionate care.

Duties:

  • Provide independent nursing care and administer prescribed treatments and medications
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate resident care
  • Practice within established LPN standards, scope of practice, and code of ethics
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and the care team
  • Accurately document care using the nursing process
  • Monitor, assess, and report changes in residents’ conditions
  • Maintain effective communication with residents, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Uphold professional standards of conduct, appearance, and resident-centered care

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing program
  • Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba
  • Previous experience in geriatric or long-term care (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of LPN standards, scope of practice, and code of ethics
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation such as Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making abilities
  • Ability to prioritize workload and delegate tasks appropriately
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced healthcare environment
