Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Manager, the incumbent is responsible for investigation and documentation of existing, new and replacement building systems and components to support the installation, commissioning, startup, maintenance and servicing of said systems and components. Assists in the organization and coordination of the Shop's workflow to ensure efficient utilization of resources. Carries out functions of the Plumbing trade.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the Plumbing field, preferably in a hospital environment, in all phases of installation, commissioning, start up, maintenance and servicing of building systems and components.
  • Minimum of two (2) years lead hand or supervisory experience required.
  • Experience in technical documentation of building systems and components, problem-solving and project completion required.
  • Experience in development of commissioning procedures, and reading, interpreting and verifying contract documents (drawings, specifications and submittals) required.
  • Experience in the development of preventative maintenance routines for equipment and systems would be an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete Grade 12, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Manitoba Journeyman certificate in Plumbing required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Manitoba Journeyman certificate in Plumbing required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • The incumbent must be self-motivated and possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills and an aptitude for customer service.
  • Knowledge of related codes and CSA standards required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position including manual dexterity required.
  • Position may require working from ladders, scaffolding, high level platforms or in confined spaces and enclosures.

 

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
