Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for investigation and documentation of existing, new and replacement building systems and components to support the installation, commissioning, start up, maintenance and servicing of said systems and components (40%). Assists in the organization and coordination of the Shop's workflow to ensure efficient utilization of resources (40%). Carries out functions of the relevant trade (20%).

Experience

  • At least five (5) years’ experience in the relevant field, preferably in a hospital environment, in all phases of installation, commissioning, start up, maintenance and servicing of building systems and components.
  • At least two (2) years lead hand or supervisory experience required.
  • Experience in technical documentation of building systems and components, problem solving and project completion required.
  • Experience in development of commissioning procedures, and reading, interpreting and verifying contract documents (drawings, specifications and submittals) required.
  • Experience in the development of preventative maintenance routines for equipment and systems would be an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete Grade 12, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Manitoba Journeyman certificate in the relevant trade required.
  • Completion of a course in supervision or management as recognized by the Centre required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • The incumbent must be self-motivated and possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills and an aptitude for customer service.
  • Knowledge of related codes and CSA standards required.

Physical Requirements

  • Good manual dexterity required.
  • Position may require working from ladders, scaffolding, high level platforms or in confined spaces and enclosures.
