Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Laundry or designate, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the LAUNDRY PORTER/CART MAKE UP is responsible for: the physical movement of clean and soiled laundry carts from all areas of the hospital complex and affiliated buildings; preparation of linen carts and orders; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Grade X

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, twist and reach constantly throughout the entire shift.
  • Ability to lift/move items weighing approximately 50 lbs/23 kgs.
  • Ability to push carts weighing up to approximately 500 lbs/230 kgs.

 

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

 

The Collective Agreement this position is covered under, is identified by the Union noted above.  As a result of The Health Sector Bargaining Unit Review Act, the bargaining agent for this position may differ from the Union identified.  In the event you have any questions, please contact your site Human Resources Department.

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
