Job Summary:

 

The Lab Aide is responsible for cleaning a wide variety of laboratory glassware, plasticware, equipment for researchers within Paul Albrechtesen Research Institute. Incumbent is responsible for providing essential services including sterilizing solutions and dryware used in experimental work. In addition, the incumbent maintains the cleanliness of the Wash-up Room, lab sink areas and assorted joint-use areas. 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent 

 

Experience

  • Experience working in a laboratory environment is preferred

 

An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow details instructions

 

Physical Demands and Working Conditions 

  • Ability to perform physical activities such as; bending, twisting, and heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand and move around for extended periods of time.
  • Incumbent is exposed frequently to high temperatures, humidity and working with unpleasant odours.

 

Other

  • Must have satisfactory employment record
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • Ability to speak French
