Job Profile:
LHC Personal Care Home Inc. is recruiting for a Licensed Practical Nurse - FTE 0.7 Days - Permanent position. This position reports directly to the Resident Care Manager. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uses the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver safe, quality care.
  • Documents in the health care record.
  • Provides direct nursing care including but not limited to administration of medication, monitoring for medication effects and side effects, providing required treatments, and assessment of acute illness or change in status.
  • Consults Physician, Resident Care Manager, on-call Director/Manager, interdisciplinary team members, or external agencies as indicated.
  • Exhibits knowledge in the assessment and management of key gerontology issues as pressure ulcers, delirium, fall prevention, restraint reduction, incontinence, behavior management.
  • Participates in work groups addressing clinical issues.
  • Assist in the monitoring of care by participating in quality improvement monitoring and audit process (restraint audit, resident care audit, chart audit).
  • Acts as a resource to  Health Care Aides (HCA). 

 

Your education and qualifications:

  • Current registration with College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba.
  • Experience in long term care settings is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible to change as situations warrant.
  • Ability to supervise and direct the work of health care aides.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Organizational abilities, with a particular emphasis on time management.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an expressed willingness to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Computer skills essential.
  • Physical and mentally able to perform all duties of the role.
