Position Overview:

This position is part of the NorWest Co-op Community Health Intervention & Outreach Team and will provide direct client support for children and youth with complex needs. As the needs of the children and youth will determine the work schedule of the IOT, this position will require maximum flexibility in terms of schedule and will require the incumbent to be available for day, evening and weekend work. There is an evening and weekend rotation and work/life balance is always taken into consideration. This position will be based in a clinical setting, but will be required to work in the community, field, and client homes on an ongoing, regular basis.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • University Degree Required, Master’s Degree preferred (Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or other related disciplines)
  • Minimum two years of experience working with children and youth with complex needs
  • Highly motivated and enjoys spending time with youth in the community
  • Knowledge of The Child and Family Services Act, The Mental Health Act, and Young Offenders Act
  • Knowledge of child welfare, child and family services, justice and education systems of Manitoba
  • Demonstrated competence in risk and clinical assessment
  • Extensive knowledge of community resources for youth in order to make appropriate referrals
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and harm reduction principles
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrated decision making abilities
  • Awareness of, and sensitivity to, issues of cultural diversity and colonialism
  • Ability to work with in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work flexible hours required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Records Check required
  • Employment contingent on security clearance from correctional facilities

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Certified Canadian High-Fidelity Wraparound Facilitator, Coach, and/or Trainer
  • Knowledge and/or training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
  • Knowledge and/or training in Motivational Interviewing Experience
