Position Overview
Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the incumbent performs installation, testing, analysis, maintenance and repair tasks of any degree of complexity on hospital buildings, building services, building service equipment and a wide variety of departmental equipment. Responds to emergency calls throughout the Centre, making repairs as required in conjunction with appropriate trades where applicable.
Experience
- Five years’ experience, post certification, in a variety of facets of maintenance of buildings, building services, building service equipment and departmental equipment.
- Previous experience in a health care facility would be an asset.
- Experience in the installation of mechanical equipment e.g. heating and ventilating equipment, fans, pumps (vacuum, compressors) and the ability to read blueprints and interpret manuals required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
- Certificate of qualification as a Journeyman Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Manitoba/Interprovincial required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Journeyman Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Manitoba/Interprovincial certification required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must have demonstrated skills and knowledge in the repair or reproduction and re-installation of equipment parts.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Physical Requirements
- Job requires heavy lifting, bending, and working in elevated places on various pieces of equipment (i.e. scaffolds, ladders), as well as the ability to work in confined spaces and enclosures.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
