The Department of Medical Oncology and Hematology, CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB), in conjunction with Shared Health; and, the Section of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba (U of M), are seeking applications for a Geographical Full-Time position of Hematologist. The role is primarily within the field of classical hematology with preference given to a candidate with specialized training and/or significant experience in managing patients with hemoglobin disorders such as sickle cell disease and thalassemia.

 

The Department of Medical Oncology and Hematology and the Section of Hematology/Oncology, consists of 43 faculty members based at three CCMB sites. The group operates active clinical and basic science research programs in medical oncology, quality of life in cancer, health services research and cancer epidemiology. We offer unique opportunities to develop new and innovative clinical and/or basic research directly or in collaboration with the CancerCare Manitoba Research Institute.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to provide high quality care to patients with malignant and benign hematologic disorders as part of a multidisciplinary team, to participate in the teaching programs of CCMB and the U of M, and to collaborate in a clinical or basic research program.

 

Qualifications:

Candidates must have specialty qualifications in Internal Medicine and Hematology in the country of current practice and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification in Hematology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is preferred.

 

This is a University of Manitoba academic appointment. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Competitive salaries and excellent benefits packages are offered.
