Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Coordinator, Protection Services or designate, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of the St. Boniface Hospital, the Groundskeeper is responsible for: ensuring the overall appearance and maintenance of all grounds, parking lots, building entrances, exits, etc., of the Hospital complex and affiliated buildings; performing auxiliary groundskeeping duties including cleaning, planting and repairing as required or directed; and for performing other related duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Three (3) years’ experience in grounds maintenance.
  • Previous experience operating a skid steer loader (i.e. - bob cat) is required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Grade 12 or recognized equivalent.
  • Certified as a Landscape Technician by the Province of Manitoba Department of Labour.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • A Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license is required and must be maintained.
  • A Valid Manitoba Class 4 driver’s license may be required and must be maintained for some positions.
  • Must possess a current and relevant Skid Steer Loader course certificate from the Manitoba Safety Council - or - will have to successfully obtain certificate at a time scheduled by the employer or at a time mutually agreed upon between the incumbent and the employer.

  • Neat and tidy appearance.

Physical Requirements

  • Physically able to carry and move loads up to 34 kgs.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Ability to withstand long periods of strenuous activity.
