Klinic Community Heath is a pro-choice community health centre that provides primary care, education and counselling services to our local community and throughout Manitoba. This position is primarily responsible for assisting with grounds and interior maintenance in and around Klinic. You may also assist with different events that are put on throughout the summer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Based on the funding requirements for this position, applicants must be youth aged 15-29 years and a Manitoba resident who is legally entitled to work in Canada
- Knowledge of lawn and garden maintenance including pruning, weeding and lawn mowing.
- Experience with general maintenance including cleaning, painting, changing light bulbs, etc
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work within anti-racist and anti-oppressive frameworks and actively engage in ongoing learning about these frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous requests.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Work with team members to create a positive work environment
- Knowledge of the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA),Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Routine Practices, etc
- Language skills other than English are an asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain landscaping around the building including mowing grass, watering, weeding, pruning and fertilizing
- Help as needed to maintain community garden boxes including watering, weeding and fertilizing
- Collect trash from around the exterior of the property to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Assist with performing minor repairs
- Prep and paint areas as required
- Assist with moving and setting up office equipment/furniture
- Assist with the setup and implementation of various events
- Maintain knowledge of Klinic’s emergency procedures.
- Consistent demonstration of alignment with Klinic’s Vision, Mission and Values.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in training courses and in-services offered elsewhere and by Klinic in order to maintain and improve quality of service.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Seek appropriate supervision/consultation of own actions.
- Adhere to all agency policies, protocols, procedures and promotes best practice.
- Perform other duties and functions related to their job description, not exceeding above stated skills and capacities.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- Perform physical activities that require significant use of arms and legs and moving of body such as bunding, lifting, balancing, waling and stooping.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
- Working outside in various weather conditions
- May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients and visitors.
- Smudging occurs daily on-site.
SALARY $16.50 per hour
