Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the CHARGE TECHNOLOGIST, MRI, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface General Hospital, the GENERAL DUTY MRI TECHNOLOGIST is responsible for: performing and assisting radiologists and other physicians in the performance of MRI procedures; assisting with the orientation of registered technologists; participating in the student teaching program; the performance of the assigned area; and, performing other related duties as directed.


  • One (1) year recent experience as a technologist in a comparable sized Diagnostic Imaging department.
  • One (1) year recent experience in an MRI department of comparable size or in a hospital setting preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Must have successfully completed a MRI course/e.g. BCIT correspondence, RRC, other.
  • Certified in Magnetic Resonance Imaging with CAMRT.


  • Must be a member in good standing of the CAMRT.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Good knowledge of MRI theory and practical.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated evidence of willingness to take initiative and readiness for responsibility.
  • Good knowledge of RIS/PACS
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have no restrictions that would interfere with safety and/or rescue of patient or self.
  • Ability to maintain patient information on a confidential basis.
  • Mature and professional manner
