Position Overview

Responsible for meeting the resident’s nutritional needs and achieving overall satisfaction with meal services provided. Completion of other tasks such as sorting and washing dishes, cleaning the server, assisting with the assembly of items for meal service, prep work for the cook.

Experience
  • Previous food service experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Successful completion of, or completion within the probation period, of a recognized food handling course (ie. Food Handlers) is required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • A current Food Handlers certificate is required with in six months of being hired.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written, required. 
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.  Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Must be able to maintain and execute high standards of safety and sanitation. 
  • Must be able to cope in a fast paced environment. 
  • Minimum standards of efficiency must be achieved.
  • Clean in appearance and use approved sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle stress from deadlines and frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated good organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to attend work on a consistent basis.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be capable of accurately performing a variety of repetitive tasks requiring good manual dexterity. 
  • Must be able to handle multiple demands in a fast paced environment within set time frames and guidelines. 
  • Work area may be congested and subject to temperature variations. 
  • Lifting, bending, turning, pushing, walking, standing for entire shift may be required. 
  • Must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time.

The Collective Agreement this position is covered under, is identified by the Union noted above.  As a result of The Health Sector Bargaining Unit Review Act, the bargaining agent for this position may differ from the Union identified.  In the event you have any questions, please contact your site Human Resources Department.

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
