Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Health Services, the incumbent, working independently, is responsible for patient testing, including:
- The monitoring and operation of specialized equipment.
- The analysis of all physiological parameters monitored.
- The appropriate reactions to adverse medical situations.
- The incumbent ensures consistency of action for all procedures, assists in the training of new Exercise Lab Technologist staff, and assists medical personnel with clinical research as requested.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an EKG Technologist in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Previous Stress Lab experience preferred.
- Individuals must be able to recognize contra-indications for stress testing patients, abnormal responses during testing, and be able to respond appropriately.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Successful completion of a recognized Cardiology Technology program required.
- Successful completion of the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) exam required.
- On-the-job training will be provided.
- Advanced arrhythmia recognition preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Must be certified and maintain current registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT).
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
Qualifications and Skills
- A basic knowledge of cardiac medications and their effects on the variables monitored in the Lab required.
- A basic knowledge of emergency response procedures required.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills required.
Physical Requirements
- The working environment involves exposure to Nuclear Medicine isotopes.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases.
- May be exposed to extreme client injuries.
- Physical demands involve walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
