Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Provincial Lead, Health Workforce, the Executive director wellness will develop, lead and coordinate wellness and workforce belonging initiatives across the province with the goal of improving the physical, mental and emotional health and well-being of all employees. They will steward the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy including developing and implementing strategic and systems level solutions and training to address complex equality, diversity and inclusion challenges ensuring the provision of a high standard of advice, support and delivery across the system on EDI matters.
This role leads several wellness initiatives in healthcare such as Disrupting Racism strategy and Reducing Administrative Burden for Doctor’s in Manitoba. Participation in these initiatives will require the ability to identify opportunities, create policy and training, offer experience-based solutions and gain stakeholder interest and buy-in.
The Executive director wellness is responsible for the development and oversight of the execution of a strategy to address wellness challenges and opportunities and will work in partnership with other operational leaders to improve well-being primarily focusing on improving the work environment and culture.
Experience
- 10+ years’ experience in senior HR leadership positions (talent management, training and development, compliance, diversity and inclusion, strategic planning, HR project management); or,
- 5+ years’ experience in a wellness or mental health field (as a physician, nurse, physical therapist or a health educator) with 5+ years’ experience in a senior managerial role.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- A bachelor’s degree in a health-related field (psychology, social work, exercise science, nutrition, kinesiology or Education).
- Certified Professional Human Resource (CPHR) designation is an asset.
Qualifications and Skills
- A proven track record of designing and implementing health and wellness policies and programs.
- A thorough understanding of health and wellness practices as well as evidence-based approaches to wellness.
- Demonstrated solid understanding of EDI leading practices, policies, tools and experience in building inclusive programs and practices.
- Strong leadership skills and exceptional emotional intelligence.
- Ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to building positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong ability to facilitate challenging discussions with groups and individuals.
- Must be able to understand and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills required as well as the ability to take initiative to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work under stressful working conditions, prioritize working responsibilities effectively and manage time efficiently.
- Demonstrated ability to instruct, coach and lead teams.
- Highly self-motivated with strong ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Excellent management skills: financial, operational, and human resource.
- Excellent ability to effectively lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to maintain professional manner under a variety of working circumstances.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Familiarity with data, analytics and relevant software (such as SPSS or SAS).
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 10 kg.
- Interruptions to respond to questions are common; dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled.
- Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the province.
