Position Overview

The Executive Director, Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for providing strategic and operational support to the COO. They will lead the nursing and allied professions and ensure the development of and adherence to professional ethics and standards of nursing/allied practice throughout the geographic area. The incumbent is dedicated to the integration of acute and community programs and services as well as continually improving the level of patient/client care provided.

The Executive Director, Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Officer assumes responsibility for the effective and economic administration of the Renal Health, Urgent Care, Family Medicine, Rehab/Geriatrics Programs and other assigned departments or services. The incumbent will contribute to the overall administration of the hospital through participation in a number of policy setting, planning, budgetary, and quality assurance activities. In addition, they will serve on a variety of hospital committees and may participate in inter-hospital liaison activities on an assigned or authorized basis.

Experience

  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible management and leadership experience within nursing and healthcare administration.
  • Experience in community health or social services preferred.
  • Extensive experience in service delivery and business operations.
  • Experience in establishing detailed annual operational plans.
  • Ability to lead and participate in both short- and long-term planning.
  • Experience in human resource management, financial management and quality improvement required.
  • Experience with facilities management is desirable.
  • Experience in program planning, development and evaluation required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Master’s degree required. If Masters is in a discipline other than Nursing, Baccalaureate degree in Nursing Required.
  • Recognized course in Health Care Management an asset.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current active practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.

  • Strong client/patient focus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in process improvement methodologies such as LEAN, an asset.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
