Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Electronics Supervisor or designate, Plant Maintenance, the incumbent is responsible for installation and maintenance of electronic equipment and components anywhere within the Health Sciences Centre where such equipment or components are the designated responsibility of Plant Maintenance, Electronics Section.
- The Maintenance function includes: repairing, modifying, replacing and preventive/predictive maintenance.
 - Installation includes: assembling, setting up, attaching and connecting new or used equipment.
 - Both maintenance and installation may involve cable and wiring installation, connection, termination and removal.
 - All work is performed in accordance with current applicable Health Sciences Centre technical standards and codes.
 - The equipment and components may be, but are not limited to, the following: fire alarm, intercom, nurses call, pocket paging, video, CCTV, audio/visual, public address, television, radio and instrumentation equipment.
 
NOTE: The incumbent must be self-motivated and possess strong analytical skills, good communication skills and an aptitude for customer service.
Experience
- At least five years’ experience, preferably in a hospital environment, in all phases of installation, maintenance and servicing of building electronic systems, consumer electronics, and industrial electronics required.
 
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
 - Must have completed a recognized Electronics Course (minimum of ten months).
 
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Limited Specialized Trade Electrician’s License (Electronics), Limited Specialized Trade Electrician’s License (Alarm Installer) required.
 - CFAA Certificate and City of Winnipeg Fire Alarm License preferred.
 
Qualifications and Skills
- Emphasis is given, but not limited to, fire alarm systems, communication systems security systems and CCTV.
 - Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals to support related equipment.
 - Must have knowledge of related CSA and building codes.
 - Knowledge of and experience with surface mount technology would be an asset.
 - Must have good English communication skills, both verbal and written and excellent interpersonal skills.
 
Physical Requirements
- Position often requires working from ladders, scaffolding, high level platforms or in confined spaces and enclosures.
