Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Human Resources Director ERS, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values, and Management Philosophy of Shared Health, the DISABILITY MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT ERS is responsible for directing all workplace activities associated with disability management including acting as a liaison with all stakeholders, being a supporter for ill/injured employees, acting as a catalyst for reintegrating employees back into the workplace, and working with management, unions, human resources, third party administrators and external health care providers on disability management issues.
Experience
- Three (3) years related experience in an occupational health setting, case management role, vocational rehabilitation or disability management.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Undergraduate degree in human resources, or in a relevant discipline combined with a post-graduate certificate in human resources management from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Completion of the Disability Management Practioner Certificate Program is an asset.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Valid Manitoba driver’s license.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities as described in the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework including a passion for customer service.
- Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of common software applications including spreadsheets, word processing, database, internet and email applications.
- Working knowledge of Worker’s Compensation policies and procedures, legislation protecting the privacy and confidentiality of medical information, and human rights legislation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all categories of hospital employees.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 25 pounds.
- Interruptions from key stakeholders are common; the incumbent can schedule dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration.
- Travel to other health care facilities throughout the province requiring a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle.
