Position Overview

The Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Education Services is a member of the Misericordia Health Centre (MHC) Senior Leadership Team (SLT). Responsible to provide leadership development, direction, coordination, monitoring and evaluation with respect to quality, patient safety accreditation, education and staff development programs and services of the Health Centre.

Collaborates with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA)’s Quality and Patient Safety and Accreditation and clinical leads to ensure accreditation, occurrence reporting, complaints management, patient safety and risk management strategies are implemented appropriately and in a timely manner. As a member of SLT, provides information to the President & Chief Executive Officer and Senior Leadership Team regarding Quality, Risk, Patient Safety and Education data which influence strategic planning and operations. Works in collaborative partnership with other healthcare providers, funders and the community.


  • Five (5) or more years of recent relevant experience in health care.
  • Knowledge and experience in LEAN, Six Sigma and other performance improvement methodologies is an asset.
  • Quality management, risk, patient safety and adult education experience is preferred.
  • Experience with accreditation assessments and surveys is an asset.
  • Strong record of leadership, project management and collaboration is preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • A Master’s degree is required for this position.
  • A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required or a degree in a related health discipline.
  • Recognized preparation in Health Care Administration and Quality management is essential.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
