Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Department Led Capital Projects (DLCP), which is administratively housed within Shared Health, delivers major healthcare infrastructure projects across the Province of Manitoba. In 2024, DLCP was authorized to deliver a new second Cancer Care building to be located on the Health Sciences Centre Campus adjacent and connected to the existing McCharles building and will provide:
- Additional capacity to expand treatments spaces
- Incorporation of new treatments
- Flexibility in design to accommodate ever-changing treatment and research needs
- Unification and co-location of screening programs
- Increased sustainability offered by incorporating new models of care
- Collaborative partnerships with academic institutions and industry partners
- Advancements in Research and Innovation
Pre-design is underway on the new CCMB New 2nd Building, and it is expected to commence construction in fall 2026. DLCP is building a high caliber delivery and operational support team of professionals to execute this project.
DLCP requires a Project Director who will provide oversight and guidance to the CCMB 2nd Building Project Delivery team consisting of Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Furniture and Equipment Coordinators and other support staff. Additionally, DLCP intends to form an Operational Planning and Readiness support team which will work closely with the DLCP Delivery team. The Project Director will be jointly responsible - together with CCMB Leaders - for the work of this Operations support team.
The ideal candidate for this role is positive, professional, collaborative, team-oriented and committed to the organization's vision, values, goals, and objectives. They will be an effective leader, guiding the broader project delivery team, as well as working collaboratively with the DLCP Program Lead to effectively carry out the program mandate.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years' experience in planning and implementing complex projects in a health services environment. The preferred candidate has experience delivering oncology infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supporting professional multi-disciplinary teams comprised of resources with a wide spectrum of experience.
- Experience delivering complex capital projects, including renovations and/or new construction valued over $250M.
- Proven experience in a leadership role on projects involving diverse internal and external stakeholder groups, applying effective change management strategies, with a strong record of delivering results on time and within scope.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Post-secondary degree in relevant disciplines such as architecture, interior design, engineering, health, business, or public administration from a recognized and accredited educational institution.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Project Management Professional Certification is considered an asset.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.
- Project Management Professional Certification is considered an asset.
Qualifications and Skills

- Demonstrates expertise in detailed program and executive level reporting, takes ownership of program quality, delivery milestones management, budget control, and risk mitigation.
- Demonstrates Executive leadership skills aligned with the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and Visio.
- Strong facilitation and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and drive consensus.
- Strong capability and understanding in the application of construction contract law, CCDC documents, and public tendering practices as well as other applicable legislation, policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
Physical Requirements
- May be required to work extended hours.
- Periodic travel throughout Manitoba may be required
- Must have valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
