Position Overview

Reporting to the Regional Director, Indigenous Health, the incumbent collaborates with the leadership and key stakeholders of the sites, programs and services within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority to further develop, implement and evaluate health services in support of an accessible and culturally responsive health care system with effective and efficient communication and referral networks that enhance service delivery for Indigenous clients.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Communication
    •  Interprets the organization and programs vision, mission and strategic directions and provide direction, encouragement, influence and demonstrates initiative to accomplish the organizational mandates.
  • Operational and Fiscal Management 
    • In conjunction with the Regional Director, Indigenous Health, establishes detailed annual operational plans for the program.
    • Leads and participates in a short and long-term planning related to achieving the objectives of IH within the WRHA.
    • Continually reviews current methods, processes and program delivery models to identify opportunities for integration and service delivery.
  • Human Resource Management
    • Directly supervise line management staff at the regional level including maintaining effective employee relations, evaluating performance and promoting a learning organization; and to ensure appropriate orientation, supervision, and continuing education of all health services staff.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively senior management and leadership experience, preferably in the public sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in Indigenous Health services delivery with a focus on program development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in health services delivery in multi-jurisdictional health care systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and work in effective multi-sectoral partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Community development experience.
  • Previous Leadership and coaching experience.
  • Previous experience managing diversity.
  • Previous experience developing and implementation of inclusive workplace relationships.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Master's degree in a related area or a commitment to enroll in a Master’s degree program within 2 years and demonstrate substantial progress towards completion within 5 years.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated conflict management skills.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions.
  • Writing and computer skills including familiarity with database use.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is primarily within an office environment.
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities and competing demands.

 

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
