Position Overview
The Director, Human Resources is accountable to the President & CEO and is responsible for providing strategic and operational support in relation to comprehensive human resource services. The incumbent leads human resource planning and practices and acts as a facilitative leader and role model to the department heads and staff at Misericordia Health Centre (MHC). The position works collaboratively with Winnipeg Health Region and supports regional human resource initiatives. The incumbent is a member of the MHC Senior Leadership team and is responsible for Human Resource Services, Occupational Safety and Health Services, Staffing Office, Volunteer Services and the contract with retail food services.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a senior or middle management human resources position required.
- Demonstrated management expertise with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in progressively more responsible positions within the health care field.
- Demonstrated leadership, administrative, financial, communication and interpersonal skills.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Undergraduate degree in business with specialization in Human Resources and/or Labour Relations from a recognized university required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Certified Professional in Human Resource (CPHR) designation desirable.
- Active member in good standing of the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources Manitoba (CPHR Manitoba).
Qualifications and Skills
- Works within MHC’s core values, philosophy, vision, CQI goals, policies and procedures.
- Ability to function as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team, including collaboration, team work and good communication skills.
- Knowledgeable of employment legislation as well as current trends and issues relevant to human resources.
- Knowledgeable of ESP and SAP systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of general human resource office administration.
- Change management experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
- Excellent decision making skills.
- Excellent listening and comprehension ability.
- Exceptional cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Proficiency in networking and influencing.

Physical Requirements
- Physical health to meet the demands of the position.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
