Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Health Sciences Centre (HSC) Winnipeg is a Shared Health facility, and Manitoba’s provincial tertiary centre for trauma, transplants, burns, neurosciences, complex cancer care and pediatric care. Serving residents of Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, and Nunavut, it is the province’s largest health-care facility, and a major referral centre for complex health problems.
Spanning over 32 acres with an active campus of over 4 million square feet, the HSC Support Services portfolio includes: Security, Environmental Services, Maintenance, Facilities Management and Commercial Services.
Facility Management (FM) Operations provides four major services the within the Support Services portfolio at HSC:
- Manages the facility management support services for HSC including coordination of events that impact the site, wayfinding, space management, and other functions as required.
- Oversees Maintenance Logistics for the HSC Maintenance Management System and coordinates a provincial healthcare emergency maintenance repair material inventory sharing and resource system.
- Manages HSC Facility Maintenance technical training, orientation and trade safety standards to meet and exceed guidelines.
- Manages HSC facility Fire Safety programs and coordinates Provincial level fire safety standards.
Main Function:
Under the general direction of the Executive Director, Finance and Support Services, the incumbent is responsible for providing facility management operations support for HSC. Develops and leads the FM Operations team to support HSC activities including: maintenance logistics related to the management system including call receipt and dispatching, workload measurement and tracking, material management and scheduling systems. Leads the operational aspects of HSC space management, signage and move management through coordination with the leadership team and in collaboration with Shared Health as required. Leads HSC safety and technical training and fire safety, leveraging that expertise to coordinate provincial level standards, guidelines and processes. Provides internal human resource support for HSC Maintenance to ensure departmental consistency and compliance with processes and collective agreements.
Experience
- Five years’ experience in management and support of material and human resources in a heavily unionized environment.
- Previous experience specifically dealing with the coordination of support functions such as: maintenance logistics; material management; technical, safety and fire safety training; and human resource management.
- Experience using computerized support systems for business and facility management environment preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Commerce, Business or Human Resource Management required.
- Completion of a Health Services Management course or a technical diploma in a relevant field would be an asset.
Special Training:
- Knowledge of labour law, workplace safety and health regulations, and building and fire codes.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.
Qualifications and Skills
- General knowledge of personal computer operations required (Windows and a networked environment).
