Job Summary:
The Director, Cancer Standards is a consultative leader who works in partnership with CCMB leadership to ensure the organization is well positioned to maintain its place as a leading cancer agency in Canada.
The Director, Cancer Standards works closely with the Chief of Population Oncology and other clinical and program leaders in CancerCare Manitoba to ensure clinical cancer standards are developed and adhered to, consistent with the organization’s mission. The Director also works collaboratively with external stakeholders, including professional and health services organizations across Manitoba.
The Director is responsible for a variety of functions related to cancer standards including, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of compliance and concordance. The Director supports the Executive, and other members of the senior leadership team in ensuring the establishment and communication of the province’s progress in meeting these standards.
Qualifications:Required:
Level of Formal Education & Experience
- Post-secondary degree in a health-related field, or administration, An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, sciences or another field relevant to the position
- 10 years progressive management experience working in a health-related environment encompassing a strong cross-section of working with healthcare professionals
- 5 years of experience leading, planning, developing systemic improvements in health services and implementing new standards and care pathways
- 5 years experience in health-related planning, data-driven program evaluation, organizational management, policy and program development
- 5 years of experience influencing and collaborating with diverse, large, multicultural, crossfunctional and interdisciplinary teams including physician leadership, executive-level management, service delivery organizations and partners, patients and the public on health service integration and improvement initiatives Page 2 of 4 An appropriate equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
Skills and Abilities
- Experience in leading healthcare and/or health system projects including project planning and change management.
- Demonstrated strong emotional intelligence, self-awareness, self-management and social awareness
- Ability to proactively build and maintain partnerships and to work with internal and external stakeholders
- Must have strong facilitation skills, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, analyze, problem-solve and apply knowledge and decision-making skills Physical Requirements

- Must be legally able to work in Canada
Preferred:
- Professional certification in a field related to the position.
- MBA, MPA, or other relevant, post graduate level education.
- Knowledge of the corporate operations in a public-funded healthcare organization.
- Ability to speak French.
