Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Regional Manager of Operations, the Production Coordinator is responsible for product procurement, inventory control and production demands to meet the service menu requirements (bulk, congregate, meals on wheels, ward stock, nourishment, meal trays, and contingency).  The incumbent will ensure all food preparation and packaging is compliant to safe food handling regulations.  The incumbent oversees and monitors product quality, recall or supply concerns with associated vendors.  The incumbent is responsible for cost controls and area staffing inclusive of recruitment, scheduling, payroll, work routines, safety, performance management, employee training and leadership development. 


  • Three to five years’ experience in food production and patient food services in a large operation preferred.
  • Three to five years managerial experience required. 
  • Experience with CBORD Food Service modules preferred.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Bachelor of Science (Human Nutritional Sciences) (Dietetics) Accredited Dietetic Internship.
  • Trained in CBORD Food Service modules preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel..
  • Knowledge of LEAN methodology is an asset.


  • Registration with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba.
  • Registration with the Dietitian of Canada.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of scheduling software (ESP) and business software (SAP) preferred.
  • Adheres to all safety and health regulations and work place practices.
  • Knowledge of Department of Health requirements and legislation for food service/production facilities.
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate processes, quality improvements initiatives and financial objectives.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work in a fast paced environment and met deadlines.
  • Required to occasionally work evening, weekend or extended hours.
  • Exposure to and working in a cold environment between (3 and 10 Celsius) for periods of time.
