Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Occupational Health and Safety while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of the St. Boniface Hospital, the Coordinator, Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention Program (MIPP) is responsible for: developing, implementing and maintaining a hospital-wide musculoskeletal injury prevention program including: developing policies and procedures related to safe patient handling; developing policies and procedures related to ergonomics;  monitoring injury trends; evaluating the effectiveness of ergonomic programs; implementing injury prevention training programs;  and performing other related duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years recent related experience required.
  • Previous experience in Occupational Health and Safety preferably within healthcare required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Baccalaureate degree in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing or other related discipline required.
  • Training in ergonomics is preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current registration with relevant licensing body is required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of common software including word processing, database, internet and email applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in communicating with and teaching adults.
  • Ability to work with initiative and take initiative.
  • Ability to adapt readily to changing demands and situations.
