Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Director Clinical Support Services, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital (SBH), the COORDINATOR EMERGENCY MEASURES & CLINICAL INITIATIVES is responsible for: the development, distribution and ongoing testing of the Hospital’s disaster response plans; the development of disaster related forms, task sheets, resource information & tools; the provision of Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) training to management staff; participation on contingency planning teams; the initiation and chairing of debriefings following significant events; the maintenance and revision of the Administrator On Call Manual; participation in the development and implementation of clinical improvement initiatives , the promotion of  a culture of safety within the Hospital; the performance of other related duties as assigned. 


  • Four (4) years related experience in an acute care environment is required.
  • Knowledge and experience working with patient care systems and processes is required.
  • Working knowledge of the Incident Command System is preferred.


Note:  An equivalent combination of education and experience, as deemed recognized by the Hospital, may be considered in lieu of the above.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or allied health discipline required.



  • Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of common software such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and email applications. 
  • Successful completion of disaster/emergency management course(s).


  • Registration with appropriate licensing/regulatory body is required.

  • Demonstrated planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with other health care professionals and all levels of staff.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
