Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Director, Accounting Operations, the incumbent is responsible for:

 

  1. Coordinating the Consolidation Process;
  2. Quarterly Regional Consolidation;
  3. Year-end Regional Consolidation;
  4. Co-ordination and collection of site reporting;
  5. Assisting in researching accounting and taxation issues;
  6. Perform other Regional accounting requirements;
  7. Inter-company Account Management.

Experience

  • Two to three years related accounting experience in a financial reporting position or related financial capacity, with a focus on financial statement consolidation.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • University degree and attainment of a recognized professional accounting designation (C.A., C.G.A., C.M.A.) required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • C.A., C.G.A., C.M.A

Qualifications and Skills

  • A working knowledge of computer-based financial information systems is required. 
  • Proficient in use of PC-Windows based systems and applications including word processing software (Word) in a network environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications (Excel and Access).
  • Knowledge of Canadian GAAP and GAAP for not-for-profits;
  • Proven ability and aptitude for recognizing, investigating, and analyzing problems, and for developing innovative solutions to complex situations;
  • Ability to analyze, organize and document procedural routines;
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff at all levels;
  • Comfortable working in a team-oriented environment where the range of responsibilities is varied;
  • Ability to work independently and willingness to assume additional responsibilities;
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions, and exhibit tact even in delicate situations;
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and complete work in a concise, clear, accurate and timely manner.

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
