Position: Community Development Programmer
Responsible To: Community Development Coordinator
Anticipated Start Date: January, 2026
Salary: $25.631- $ 29.643 per hour
Union: CUPE
Anticipated Shift: Primarily days; evenings and weekends as needed
Position Summary:
This position is part of the NorWest Co-op Community Health Youth Employment Supports for Success and will provide direct support to a target population of 17 to 29 years of age to help reduce education and employment barriers. This position will facilitate employability skills training to a group and then help transition the participants to an employment work experience opportunity. This position will provide mentoring and job coaching one on one and group basis while the participants are registered in the program. This position will seek out interested employer partnerships that will establish a partnership and be a direct link for a successful work experience for all participants.
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in related field and a combination of education and experience in employment training and education programs required.
Experience:
- Minimum 1-year experience working with community.
- Experience with program delivery, especially in employability skills training, career development and job readiness.
- Knowledge of employment barriers, labour market conditions, training and education programs required.
- Knowledge of community development and partnership development with supporting employer partners and new employer partners.
- Experience in group facilitation and outreach.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with data collection and tracking participant costs.
- Empathetic, non-judgemental approach.
- Ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team in a variety of settings
- Ability to work well in a community setting.
- Knowledge and experience with diverse cultures and economic backgrounds, vulnerable individuals with complex needs with mental health and addictions.
Licenses/Registrations:
- Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Child Abuse Registry, Vulnerable person check and Criminal Records Check required
