Job Summary:

 

Reporting to the Program Manager and Medical Lead, the Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for the pre-procedure assessment and preparation of individuals who have been referred for a colonoscopy as a result of a positive FOBT. These duties will include a history and physical examination, patient education, as well as the management of common medical problems prior to the procedure. Other responsibilities will include communication with staff, family physicians and specialists to ensure referrals are handled in a timely and appropriate manner.

 

Qualifications:

 

Required:

  • Candidate must have active College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba registration as an RN-EP
  • Masters of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Major or equivalent required
  • Knowledgeable of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses on the Extended Practice Register
  • Experience in conducting assessments for patients referred for colonoscopy and knowledge of cancer screening are required
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, decision-making, teaching, leadership and organizational skills are also required
  • Must have satisfactory employment record
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

 

Preferred:

  • Ability to speak French
