JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Support Nurse is responsible for providing education training/support to staff in MDS/Care Organizer and other education/training as assigned. This position is responsible to provide leadership and senior oversight in MDS care planning ensuring compliance with MH standards and HFH policies and procedures. The CSN will be available to provide clinical education and support to the unit care team on all shifts to ensure resident care activities are in compliance with clinical standards and consistent with Holy Family Home policies. The CSN will promote a resident focus to care and ensure quality care outcomes using a multidisciplinary approach. In collaboration with the Director of Care and Education Facilitator, the CSN will provide oversight and leadership in the development, implementation and understanding of best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education

(a) RN diploma with a minimum of three (3) years clinical experience in a geriatric setting.

(b) Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.

(c) Current active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)

(d) CNA certification in Gerontology an asset.

(e) CPR certification at Health Care Provider Level.

(f) Knowledge of adult teaching and learning principles.

(g) Knowledge of Management principles.

2. Experience

(a) Minimum three (3) years direct current clinical nursing experience in a Long Term Care setting.

(b) Minimum Data Set (MDS) and Care Organizer experience required.

(c) Experience in coaching, mentoring and teaching staff an asset.

 

3. Skills / Abilities

(a) Working knowledge of the MDS/Care Organizer.

(b) Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills.

(c) Demonstrated complex problem-solving and assessment skills.

(d) Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a positive working environment when supporting the learning and integration of new information, skills, and techniques.

(e) Demonstrated ability in adult education techniques.

(f) Ability to function independently and creatively.

(g) Must possess good organizational skills.

(h) Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft word, excel and power-point.

(i) Flexibility to work all shifts

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

 

Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated.
