Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager (or designate) the incumbent:

  • Serves as a regional expert in his/her designated clinical practice area(s), and provides guidance to the pharmacist members of his/her team through clinical leadership, mentoring, training, education, evaluation and research.
  • Provides quality clinical pharmacy services to patients/clients within his/her designated clinical practice area.
  • Contributes to the delivery of quality clinical pharmacy services by examining and evaluating the body of knowledge relevant to his/her designated clinical practice area(s), and applying that knowledge to the development of evidence-based, regional pharmacy practices.
  • Serves as a regional Pharmacy resource in his/her designated clinical practice area(s) and provides educational programs to pharmacy staff, students and other healthcare professionals.

Experience

  • Minimum of four years of recent clinical experience in direct patient care is required.
  • One or more years of experience in direct patient care, within the designated clinical practice area(s), is preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Entry-to-practice academic credential in Pharmacy from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated as determined by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM).
  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency program or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Advanced clinical training (e.g., pharmacotherapy certification, post-graduate fellowship training, etc.) is considered an asset.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the Province of Manitoba.

  • Ability to effectively use word processing, spreadsheet and other computer-based tools.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work under stress and time constraints.
  • May be required to work day, evening, night and weekend shifts.
  • May, on occasion, be required to work extended hours.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
  • Must be able to travel to multiple sites within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA).

 

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
