Position Overview

The WRHA Clinical Health Psychology Program is responsible for all psychologist services in WRHA facilities and clinics.  The CHP Program provides psychological services across the lifespan, from the very young to the elderly. CHP Psychologists are based in hospitals, health centres and primary care clinics, providing clinical care for a wide range of mental health and acute/chronic medical conditions.

 

The Psychologist in Adult Services provides consultation, assessment, treatment and clinical service development for a wide range of clinical conditions.  Responsibilities and clinical population vary depending on the specifics of the position, and may include some of the following aspects:  psychodiagnostic and cognitive assessment, individual or group treatment flexibly incorporating a number of evidence-based intervention approaches, work with interdisciplinary teams, inpatient, outpatient or community clinical care and clinical service development, consultation to/supervision with clinical staff and trainees as appropriate. 

 

This position for a generalist-trained clinical psychologist is based in CHP’s Depression clinic at Victoria General Hospital, and also flexibly provides assessment or treatment services in other clinical areas and sites, where needed.  In addition to providing diagnostic assessment and evidence-based treatments for depression, in this role, the individual may also provide psychodiagnostic and cognitive assessments, and clinical evaluation, treatment planning, and treatment delivery through individual or group treatment, for a range of other clinical conditions. 

 

The Psychologist reports to the Medical Director, Clinical Health Psychology Program.

Experience
  • Education, training and clinical experience in a range of evidence-based psychological treatments, and individual & group treatment delivery with adults
  • Education, training and experience in diagnostic evaluation and cognitive assessment, including the administration and interpretation of standard adult psychological tests and measures
  • Experience with consultation to other health care providers and clinical teams
  • Experience and training in diagnostic assessment and treatment for depression as well as for other mental health presentations required; experience and training in health psychology assessment and treatment an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from a CPA-accredited training program
  • Completion of a CPA-accredited Internship/Residency in Clinical Psychology
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Registered or eligible to be registered for full independent practice as a C. Psych. by the Psychological Association of Manitoba. 
  • Supervision will be provided for individuals at the C. Psych.
  • Candidate level until fully registered.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
