Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, Executive Director of Clinical Services, the Clinical Project Manager will apply key functions of effective project management providing leadership to ensure overall completion of clinical project deliverables.

 

The Clinical Project Manager also:

  • Provides leadership for designated health care team members and monitors operational needs across Programs.
  • Creates an environment that enables the facility to fulfill its mission and performance goals including recruiting, interviewing and hiring employees in accordance with patient care needs. Seeks to promote and maintain a positive, professional, team oriented and service conscious environment.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the facility.

Experience

  • A minimum of five years of experience in nursing required.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster an interdisciplinary collaborative environment that supports quality patient care/quality improvement, risk management and an empowerment practice model.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, management of projects and evaluation of systems is required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • A Baccalaureate Degree from a recognized University; a Master’s Degree in relevant discipline (e.g. MN, MBA, MHA) preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM).
  • Project Management Certification would be an asset.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge:
    • Project Management principles, practices and techniques.
    • Facility policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines relating to: clinical care, administrative, financial, and human resource management.
    • Standards and scope of practice for persons reporting directly to you.
    • Personal Health Information Act, Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (e.g. Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts.
    • Continuum of Services/Community Resources.
    • Risk Management Strategies.
    • Quality Improvement Processes.
    • Management Principles.
    • Relative Collective Agreements.
    • Principles of delegation.
    • Roles and responsibilities of members of the health care team.
  • An ability to communicate in English in both written and verbal form.
  • Ability to lead interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal, critical thinking, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to perform both independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to delegate appropriately and supervise performance of staff.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and attend to unit operations in a timely manner.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to plan, manage and implement change.
  • Ability to function in a computerized environment with proficiency in use of Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
  • Ability to function in a demanding environment.

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
