Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Charge Radiology Technologist, Manager, Director or designate in the Diagnostic Services portfolio, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of Shared Health, the Clinical Instructor is responsible for the supervision of the students of Red River College Polytech, Medical Radiologic Technology Program. In addition, the Clinical instructor will liaison with other accredited college related programs. Functions as an independent self-directed professional in the delivery of direct patient care. Maintains a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines and ensures compliance with quality assurance program.
Experience
- A minimum of three years' experience as a General Duty Technologist - MRT.
- Previous supervisory or teaching experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Must be a graduate of an approved and accredited Medical Radiologic training program.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Must be in good standing with CAMRT-MB and CAMRT.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements in accordance to Shared Health policy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communications skills.
- Understanding of office applications in a Windows environment with experience working with Microsoft Office programs preferred.
- Demonstrates strong organization and prioritizing skills.
- Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrates ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships in a multi-disciplinary team and with external agencies, groups and the public.
Physical Requirements
- May be required to work at more than one Shared Health site such as a satellite office or facility.
- Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position including being able to stand or walk for extended periods of time without resting.
- Must demonstrate the use of safe and effective body mechanics while working with clients.
- Must be able to safely transfer large and/or heavy clients who may have limited or no weight bearing capabilities.
- Must be able to lift and position clients, some of whom are in a state of unconsciousness.
- May be exposed to radiation (within acceptable limits).
- May be required to occasionally work extended hours.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
- May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
