Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Manager Health Services, and the Allied Health Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the provision and promotion of optimal nutritional care to clients according to professional Standards of Practice. Quality client care is supported through continuing professional development, research, quality improvement and promotion of Clinical Nutrition.

The Clinical Dietitian demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the region and Riverview Health Centre.

Experience

  • Two years clinical nutrition experience preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Bachelor of Science degree, Human Nutritional Sciences, dietetics or related area from an accredited Canadian University program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated, required.
  • Graduate of a recognized dietetic internship program which has been accredited by Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice including the Masters of Applied Human Nutrition from the University of Manitoba or a planned practicum as requested by the College of Dietitians of Manitoba.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Must be a Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba.
  • Membership with the Dietitians of Canada (DC) is recommended.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapies.
  • Knowledge of relevant Workplace Safety and Health responsibilities.
  • Practices within the professional standards and the ethical, legislative and legal parameters of the profession (e.g., the act and code of ethics of the College of Dietitians of Manitoba).

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
