Position Overview
Under the direction of the Manager of Environmental Services and the Support Services Supervisor (Housekeeping), the Clerk provides clerical support functions related to departmental and corporate activities.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a health care environment preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar clerical position preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Grade 12 graduate, Manitoba standards.
- Successful completion of a recognized clerical/administrative assistant program required.

Qualifications and Skills
- Keyboarding skills with an accuracy of 50 wpm.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications including Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Proficiency in Microsoft “Access” would be an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and use of the Internet.
- Knowledge of relevant Workplace Safety and Health responsibilities.
- Ability to use good judgment, asking for guidance, direction when necessary.
- Ability to express ideas and thoughts in English both verbally and in written format selecting appropriate communication methods for the situation.
- Ability to listen and comprehend effectively.
- Ability to use pertinent office software system applications including ESP and EMS (Event Management Systems).
- Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients/residents, family members and co-workers.
- Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to support committee functioning such as preparation of agendas, scheduling meetings, taking notes/minutes etc.
- Ability to set up and maintain accurate files and records.
- Ability to organize workload and set priorities.

- Ability to use systems and equipment typical of an office environment.
- Ability to work safely without injury to self, to patients/residents, or to other staff.
- Physical and mental health to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
This Indefinite Term may expire subject to one (1) weeks’ notice.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
