Position Overview

Under the direction of the Transition Manager, the Receptionist/Clerk provides clerical services to the Transition Manager and to other members of the Long-Term Care Access Centre. Clerical services include: reception, word processing, data entry, record keeping, filing, mail distribution, payroll and scheduling appointments/meetings. The Receptionist/Clerk also performs other related duties as assigned and consistent with the job classification.

Experience

  • Experience scheduling and coordinating meetings.
  • Experience with email and computerized calendars.
  • Previous health care experience would be an asset.
  • Experience with using a Dictaphone.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • High school graduation with formal training in business and office procedures or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office (WORD, Excel and Access) is essential.
  • Keyboarding speed of 50 wpm.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and office machines.
  • Ability to record and prepare minutes and agendas.
  • Ability to deal effectively with staff and the public in person and via telephone.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to protect confidentiality of information processed by this position.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to acquire knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to learn to work with routine statistics and discern replication or errors in data.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize his/her workload with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements

  • Required to work for long periods of time at a computer.
  • Required to lift boxes of up to 20 lbs.

 

 

This Indefinite Term may expire subject to one (1) weeks’ notice.

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
