Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Working as a member of the Health Records team the incumbent is responsible to provide clerical support by providing, maintaining and processing health records for centre-wide patient care; specifically, by maintaining the system to monitor and report physician compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws and Regulations pertaining to record completion. Filing reports, updating physician deficiencies, providing health records for physician completion and processing deficiency letters.
Experience
- One (1) year experience in a hospital Health Records. Department required within the last year or;
- One (1) year experience in a medical office using Terminal Digit (TD) filing and completing qualitative analysis of health records required or;
- Experience working with both electronic and paper health records required.
- Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
- Willing to enroll in a recognized Health Information Management (HIM) course within 6 months of hiring, or currently enrolled in a recognized HIM course, or have successfully completed the first year of a two-year recognized HIM course required.
- A certification in good standing with the Canadian College of Health Information Management and an active professional membership with Canada’s health information management association, CHIMA preferred.
SPECIAL TRAINING:
- Terminal Digit (TD) filing aptitude required.
- Typing/keyboarding skills (minimum 30 wpm) required.
- Medical terminology required (test pass mark 75%) required.
- Operational knowledge of computer terminals required:
- MS Office.
- Word.
- Excel.
- Database software.

- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged physical activities include walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, using a stepstool, bending, lifting, and loading/unloading storage boxes/buckets weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Rolling/sliding heavy lateral mobile shelving units.
- Work environment consists of a high noise level.
- Frequent interruptions.
- No natural light.
- May entail working alone.
- Contact of a sensitive nature with medical staff.
