Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Working as a member of the Health Records Team the incumbent is responsible but not limited to reviewing health records completed by physicians and midwives to ensure that the health record completion standards are met, assigning and removing deficiencies. Utilizes computer systems to obtain information necessary to assign/remove deficiencies and suspensions and locate health records. Prepares and distributes all notification letters for physicians and midwives of incomplete charts and suspensions in compliance with the Medical Staff By Laws and Regulations.

Experience

  • One (1) year experience in a hospital Health Records Department required

or

  • One (1) year experience in a medical office using Terminal Digit (TD) filing and completing qualitative analysis of health records required

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required
  • Successful completion of year one of a recognized Health Information Management program required
  • Successful completion of year two of a recognized Health Information Management program preferred
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered

Qualifications and Skills

  • Alpha-numeric recognition aptitude required
  • Typing/keyboarding skills (minimum 50 wpm) required
  • Medical terminology required (test pass mark 75%) required
  • Operational knowledge of computer terminals required

  • Good command of English (oral and written)

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged physical activities include walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, using a stepstool, bending, lifting, and loading/unloading storage boxes/buckets weighing up to 30 lbs
