Position Overview
Under the direction of the Manager, Plant and Property Services or Designate, the Certified Electronic Technologist maintains, repairs and installs electronic equipment, instruments and data communication systems. The Certified Electronic Technologist designs or modifies existing equipment and systems as required and provides technical assistance to staff in computerized systems.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a related technology field preferably in a hospital environment.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Completion of a 3 year Electronic Technologists program from a recognized community college is required.
  • Completion of the Canadian Fire Alarm Association Fire Alarm Technician Course is required or willingness to complete within one year.
  • Current Province of Manitoba Limited Specialized Electrical �M� License required.
  • Must be certified as an Electronic Engineering Technologist by CTTAM (Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba Inc.).
  • CFAA certified member in good standing.
  • City of Winnipeg Fire Alarm Technician License.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of communication equipment, computer hardware and software, medical electronic instruments and industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to observe applicable safety policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WHMIS.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nurse call and fire alarm systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant Workplace Safety and Health responsibilities.
  • Ability to express ideas and thoughts in English both verbally and in written format.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and related equipment manuals.
  • Spatial ability required to understand forms and relationships when working from blueprints and specifications.
  • Numerical ability required to compute arithmetic calculations for testing and installing electronics/electronic wiring, equipment and estimating materials.
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare required reports.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work schedules.
  • Ability to work in a computerized environment.
  • Ability to select appropriate communication methods pertinent to the situation.
  • Ability to listen and comprehend effectively.
  • Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work safely without injury to self, to patients/residents, or to other staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients/residents, family members and coworkers.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical and mental health to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.


This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
