Position Overview

The incumbent is responsible for assisting employees regarding benefit inquiries, enrolling employees in various benefit plans and making changes to employee benefits.  Calculates and communicates the prepayment of benefits premiums for employees beginning leaves of absence.  Acts as a liaison with HEB Manitoba, Manitoba Blue Cross, Winnipeg Civic Employee Benefit Program, Civil Service Superannuation Board, and Great West Life regarding employee benefits including health, dental, employee assistance program, health spending account, life insurance, disability and rehabilitation, paid and unpaid leave of absences, RRSP’s and pension.


  • Minimum of one year previous experience in employee benefits required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Completion of/or registration in benefits courses preferred.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with staff at all levels essential.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete duties independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work effectively while under deadline pressures in a fast paced environment.
