Position Overview

  • In collaboration with the Manager, Ambulatory care Clinics and as a member of the patient care team; is responsible for the delivery of quality athletic therapy/orthopaedic technology care in the Pan Am clinical area during assigned shift.
  • Maintains current knowledge of patient status within the unit clinical area; notifies Manager, Ambulatory Care Clinics of any unusual situations.
  • Coordinates the effective and efficient provision of athletic therapy/orthopaedic technology resources to meet patient needs.
  • In collaboration with the Manager, Ambulatory Care Clinics, is responsible to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the unit during the assigned shift.
  • Assists with the evaluation of the program services on an ongoing basis.
  • Assesses quality patient care according to Canadian Athletic Therapists Association /Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists standards and identifies problems and provides information to the team in accordance with research-based practice.
  • Maintains a positive working climate within unit.
  • Participates in quality assurance risk management activities.
  • Maintains effective communication with all members of the patient care team.
  • May be required to perform other duties and functions related to this job description not exceeding skills and capabilities.

Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years recent related clinical experience required.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Specific department-related, demonstrated proficiency in Athletic Therapy and Orthopaedic Technology required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Certified with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (requires a four-year BSc degree in Kinesiology and applied health majoring in Athletic Therapy).
  • Registration as an Orthopaedic Technologist.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • CATA(C), CSOT registration.
  • Member in good standing with both the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association and Manitoba Athletic Therapists Association.
  • Registered member of the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists – Registered or currently working towards registration.
  • Current CPR Certificate.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other disciplines.
  • Ability to adapt readily and have excellent organizational skills required.
  • Ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff.

Physical Requirements

  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.

 

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
